Parent Resources & Info

Here’s where you find everything from resources to help you address the challenges of parenting
to fun activities you can do with your children to great gear you and your child can enjoy.

New to Harper

Welcome New Families!

The Harper Welcoming Committee is here to help you become part of our school community and answer any questions or concerns you may have about Harper, the Harper PTO, or Wilmette.  Our goal is to provide a smooth transition for new families.  We’re also available for tours or to meet over coffee.

Whether you are new to Harper or have a new Kindergartener starting Harper, START HERE to review the process of getting your child enrolled for school and get most frequently asked questions answered.

To schedule a tour of the school, a formal Tour Request Google Form is to be submitted as per District 39. http://www.wilmette39.org/

Tours are not available on non-school attendance days during the school year, and 48 hours advance notice is requested prior to a tour. Please bring your driver’s license to the tour for sign-in purposes.

We look forward to showing you our wonderful school!

The Harper Decoder is a great primer to explain what is what at Harper.

We welcome your entire family and hope you turn to us to make your entrance into the Harper community as smooth as possible.  Please feel free to contact us at welcoming@harperpto.com.

District 39 Educational Foundation

The District 39 Foundation is a non-profit organization run by volunteers that acquires and grants resources to expand, enrich, and complement educational opportunities for the students, staff and D39 community.  The group administers semi-annual Gripp Grants that benefit the various D39 schools. The Harper Gardens originated from a Gripp Grant.  The Foundation’s Board of Trustees includes parents, teachers, retirees, business owners and other members of the community.

For more information, visit http://d39foundation.org.

Edukits

Edukits is an annual program that is a great opportunity to purchase the following year’s school supplies and have them waiting for your child in his/her classroom on the first day of school. This convenient service gives you the chance to spend an extra day at the beach during the summer and not running around buying a long list of school supplies at multiple stores!

Online ordering for the pre-packaged Edukits takes place each Spring. However, if you’re new to Harper or you missed out on ordering your kit this Spring, there’s still a chance to secure a kit and save yourself the hassle of school supply shopping this Summer. You can purchase a supply kit through EduKit however it will be shipped directly to your home vs. the school. Also, a $20 shipping and special handling fee will be added to the cost of the supplies. To purchase a kit visit http://www.EduKitInc.com, click on “Find My School” and enter “Harper” to find the options available.

Click here to access the 2022/2023 Harper School Supply lists.

If you have any questions please contact schoolkits@harperpto.com.

CRC

The Community Review Committee (CRC) has annually addressed a specific topic with the goal of advising the District 39 Board of Education on how to improve the teaching, learning or management aspects of D39. CRC members are parents, administrators, teachers and citizens. The CRC develops recommendations that are presented to the Board of Education in June.  By late summer, the Superintendent of Schools provides recommendations based upon the presentation. Early in the following school year, the Board decides how to proceed.  Recent topics include: Social Responsibility (CONNECTED), 21st Century Learning and Green Schools.
